Flute is a woodwind musical instrument. The flute belongs to the group of wooden instruments, as originally these instruments were made of wood.

Unlike other wind instruments, flute sounds are generated as a result of cutting the air flow on the edge, instead of using the tongue.

A musician who plays the flute is usually referred to as a flutist.

In Greek mythology, the inventor of the flute is considered the son of Hephaestus Ardal.

The earliest form of the flute, apparently, is the whistle. Gradually, fingers began to be cut through the whistle tubes, turning a simple whistle into a whistle flute, on which it was already possible to perform musical works.
