Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin was born on the 6th of June, 1799, in Moscow, Russian Empire.

His spouse was Natalia Pushkina (marriage date 1831-1837).

With Natalia they've had 4 children (Alexander, Grigory, Maria and Natalia.

His matrilineal great-grandfather was Abram Petrovich Gannibal, who was kidnapped from what is now either Eritrea or Cameroon (there are various scholarly views on this) and raised in the household of Peter the Great.

His father name is Sergei Lvovich Pushkin, and his mother name is Nadezhda Ossipovna Gannibal.

He published his first poem at the age of fifteen, and was widely recognized by the literary establishment by the time of his graduation from the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum.

Pushkin was fatally wounded in a duel with his brother-in-law, Georges-Charles de Heeckeren d'Anthès, also known as Dantes-Gekkern, a French officer serving with the Chevalier Guard Regiment who attempted to seduce the poet's wife, Natalia Pushkina.

Of Pushkin's children only the lines of Alexander and Natalia continue. Natalia's granddaughter, Nadejda, married into the British royal family (her husband was the uncle of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh).

Descendants of the poet now live around the globe in Great Britain, Czech Republic, Germany, Belgium and the United States.

Alexander Pushkin never saw Vilnius, but his son Grigory Alexandrovich had a house in Vilnius. He lived there with his wife Varvara.

A. S. Pushkin died on the 10th of February, in Saint Petersburg, Russian Empire, at the age of 37.
